Events at UJ

Engaging in academic and extracurricular activities is an integral part of the student experience. Stay connected and enrich your university journey by actively participating in events organized by AIAS such as Pub Quiz outdoor picnics, and workout activities in the Summer. Additionally, consider taking part in JAGIMUN, an intellectually stimulating forum that fosters debate and diplomacy on global issues. Expand your knowledge further by attending various guest lectures organized by our faculty, where esteemed speakers share their expertise on diverse subjects. Keep an eye out for international conferences hosted by our university, providing a unique opportunity to delve into research and connect with like-minded people from around the world.


Jagiellonian Library

As an international student at UJ, it is crucial to familiarize yourself with the array of academic resources and support services available to enhance your learning experience. Bibilioteka at UJ is a dynamic and invaluable resource for students pursuing academic excellence. You can easily access research materials and books online through your devices or visit the library if you prefer to work in a quiet environment. The library is open from Monday to Saturday from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM.


Student Support and Adaptation Center (SOWA)

SOWA plays a crucial role in providing assistance and counseling services for UJ students. Aimed at supporting the well-being and adaptation of students, SOWA offers a range of resources to help individuals navigate the challenges of academic life. This may include counseling sessions, guidance on academic adjustments, and support for personal and mental health development. For more information, you can visit the SOWA website.


Exploring Krakow:

Beyond the confines of academia, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural history of Krakow. Discover the historical landmarks scattered throughout the city, such as the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site Wawel Castle, Kościuszko Mound, and the St. Mary's Bascilla in the Rynek Glowny, which is also renowned for its beautiful Christmas Markets every year. Additionally, you can also dive deeper into Jewish history and explore Kazimeriz famous for its Jewish quarters, synagogues, Schindler's Factory, and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp located two hours away from Krakow. During your break, consider venturing to neighboring cities such as the capital, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdansk, or Zakopane. Poland's well-connected transportation system makes it convenient to visit these beautiful gems and university students can enjoy up to 51% discounts on inter-city travel.


Polish Traditions:

Poland boasts a rich tapestry of customs and traditions, deeply rooted in its history and heritage. Celebrations such as Wigilia and the Christmas Eve feast are significant cultural events in Polish life where loved ones gather to share a twelve-dish meal! Another cherished tradition is the Wianki festival. where floral wreaths are set afloat on water, which traditionally symbolizes the arrival of summer. Poles also take pride in their strong sense of community often expressed through lively folk dances, colorful costumes, and traditional music.
